DJI Debuts Dock 4 With 25-Second Automated Battery Swapping

DJI has unveiled the Dock 4, a drone-in-a-box system designed to minimize response times for emergency services and infrastructure inspections. The unit features an automated battery-swapping mechanism that restores flight readiness in 25 seconds, a significant improvement over the 30-minute recharge cycles required by previous hardware iterations.

The system pairs with the new Matrice 5TD enterprise drone, a craft engineered for high-stakes environments. Equipped with a suite of sensors including infrared imaging, laser ranging, and a 4K night-vision camera, the drone can identify 17 different object types in real time using onboard AI. Its navigation system integrates mmWave radar and rotating LiDAR, allowing for precise obstacle avoidance even in complex settings like power substations or high-rise urban zones.

Designed for continuous operation, the dock functions in temperatures ranging from -40° to 50° Celsius, utilizing internal climate control to maintain battery health. The Matrice 5TD supports a flight time of up to 59 minutes and can reach speeds of 21 m/s to arrive at incident sites ahead of ground personnel. To support regulatory compliance and safety, the platform includes a Flight Termination System and maintains data security standards verified by third-party audits. The hardware is available immediately through authorized DJI Enterprise dealers.
