The strategy, dubbed XPENG AI Engineering, seeks to dismantle the silos of proprietary development by offering external access to the company’s full-stack technology. This includes everything from vehicle platforms and electrical architecture to the Turing AI chip and specialized foundation models. By sharing these resources, XPENG intends to replicate its success with the Volkswagen Group, where the partners combined software capabilities with established vehicle engineering expertise.
Technological momentum remains centered on the company’s rapid expansion into intelligent driving and robotics. XPENG confirmed that its NGP system, powered by the VLA 2.0 model, is slated for global market entry in 2027. Simultaneously, the company is pushing toward the commercialization of IRON, its humanoid robot, with mass production scheduled for late 2026. Deliveries are expected in early 2027, followed by a European rollout later that year. This push is backed by a substantial R&D commitment, with the company reporting investments of approximately €770 million during the first half of 2026 alone.
