Fort Hill Associates Automates Construction Audits for Project Owners

After two decades of manually reconciling complex construction contracts, the auditors at Greenville-based Fort Hill Associates have launched a software platform that automates the process. Fort Hill LogiX applies fixed-rule AI to check payment applications against project contracts, identifying discrepancies that once required thousands of hours of human labor.

The construction industry has long struggled with the sheer volume of documentation required for capital projects, where dense CMAR and GMP contracts often clash with thousands of individual payment applications. Since 2006, Fort Hill Associates has navigated these complexities for universities and health systems, but the firm eventually hit a staffing ceiling as project scopes grew. Rather than expanding their headcount, the auditors built an internal engine to cross-reference labor rates, contract clauses, and change orders in a single pass.

Now operating as a standalone company, Fort Hill LogiX brings this internal tool to project owners directly. While the system uses AI to parse documents and flag exceptions, it maintains a layer of professional oversight: every generated report is reviewed and signed off by a Certified Construction Auditor. Founders Ruhtab Sahota and Curt Plyler emphasize that the platform is designed to mirror the rigorous standards set by the National Association of Construction Auditors, ensuring that every financial exception is backed by specific documentation. By moving the technology out of their own consulting practice, the founders aim to provide institutional owners with the same granular visibility into project risk that the firm previously reserved for its private clients.
