Wheeler joined the firm last December following tenures at Michael Platt’s BlueCrest Capital and Ken Griffin’s Citadel. Dangoor arrived more recently in June, moving from Goldman Sachs in London where he served as head of macro thematic trading. His background also includes roles at SPX Capital and Brevan Howard. ExodusPoint declined to comment on the departures, and neither trader responded to inquiries.
ExodusPoint Loses Two Macro Portfolio Managers in Dubai
Two high-profile macro traders have exited ExodusPoint Capital less than a year after joining the $15.5 billion hedge fund. Chris Wheeler and Daniel Dangoor, who both operated out of the firm’s Dubai office, departed recently, leaving the multi-strategy manager to navigate a period of sluggish performance.

The exits coincide with a difficult stretch for macro-focused desks across Europe and the Middle East as firms grapple with volatile interest rates and fiscal instability. PivotalPath’s discretionary macro index has gained only 3.5% through September, significantly trailing the broader industry composite of 6.7%. ExodusPoint itself is currently reporting a 4.1% return for the year, hampered by a 0.7% loss recorded last month.
