Waterdrop Reports 65% Revenue Growth in First Quarter
Beijing-based insurance technology platform Waterdrop Inc. reported a significant 64.8% jump in net operating revenue for the first quarter of 2026, reaching RMB1.24 billion. The growth, fueled largely by an expansion in insurance-related technical services, arrives as the company celebrates its tenth year of operations.

Despite the strong top-line growth, the company faced higher marketing costs, which climbed to RMB541.1 million, a 213.8% increase year-over-year due to heavier investment in third-party traffic channels. Operating profit for the quarter stood at RMB80 million, slightly higher than the RMB75.9 million reported in the first quarter of 2025. Meanwhile, the company’s medical crowdfunding arm—a cornerstone of its social impact strategy—maintained a stable footprint, with over 494 million people having cumulatively contributed to patient campaigns. As of May 31, 2026, Waterdrop continued its shareholder return efforts, having repurchased 61.8 million ADSs for approximately US$120.1 million.
