Myanmar President Min Aung Hlaing concluded a five-day state visit to China on June 19, signaling a significant push to deepen bilateral cooperation. The talks, centered on infrastructure and security, resulted in a series of agreements aimed at expanding the China-Myanmar Economic Corridor and enhancing regional law-enforcement coordination.
During their meeting, President Xi Jinping emphasized the acceleration of flagship projects within the China-Myanmar Economic Corridor, including the Kyaukphyu Special Economic Zone and the New Yangon City development. Beyond infrastructure, the two nations signed agreements spanning science, technology, public health, and media. A central focus of the dialogue was the combatting of cross-border crime, specifically telecom cyber fraud and online gambling. Both leaders committed to strengthening joint law-enforcement operations to secure the border regions and protect citizens from illicit digital networks.
