Da Bronx Pride Festival Returns With A Global Focus
Under the theme "From Da Bronx to Da World," the annual LGBTQ+ Pride festival takes over Westchester Avenue this Saturday from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Hosted by June Jambalaya of RuPaul's Drag Race, the event anchors the borough’s cultural identity while addressing the rising political pressures facing queer communities nationwide.
Sean Ebony Coleman, founder and CEO of Destination Tomorrow, frames the festival as an act of resistance. He argues that creating public space for joy and connection is vital when communities are targeted by misinformation and resource cuts. Since 2009, the organization has expanded its reach from the Bronx to centers in Atlanta and Washington, D.C., providing wraparound support to over 80,000 people.
