The initiative draws on aggregated and anonymized data from global construction sites to move beyond anecdotal evidence. By quantifying variables like trade productivity and schedule adherence, the Lab aims to solve the industry's historical lack of a macro-level truth. CEO Roy Danon identifies this data vacuum as a primary driver of stagnating productivity, arguing that standardized insights are essential for modernizing output.
Early findings from the lab have already begun to disrupt conventional industry wisdom. Research indicates that data center construction suffers from a 20-50% gap between planned and actual MEP output, while late-stage project stalls are structural rather than incidental, with the final 20% of work consuming 27% of a project's total duration. Furthermore, the data highlights significant performance disparities, noting that top-tier MEP teams work three times faster than their average counterparts.
