Developed in partnership with the travel platform Mindtrip, OPAL stands out by filtering its recommendations through local expertise rather than relying solely on generic algorithms. By pulling from over 40 data sources, including Google Places and TripAdvisor, the system generates custom travel plans that account for specific interests, ranging from Michelin-recognized dining to specialized family entertainment. According to Casandra Matej, president and CEO of Visit Orlando, this digital expansion addresses the logistical complexity inherent in navigating the city's vast array of attractions.
Visit Orlando Launches AI Tool OPAL to Streamline Trip Planning
Travelers heading to Orlando now have a digital concierge at their disposal. Visit Orlando has introduced OPAL, an artificial intelligence-driven trip planner designed to automate personalized itineraries. The tool integrates local expert knowledge with global travel data to provide 24/7 assistance for the nation's most-visited destination.

The AI tool functions as a supplement to the organization’s existing human-led support systems. Travelers retain access to one-on-one consultations via phone, video, or chat, as well as the 22,000-member 'Plan Your Orlando Vacation' Facebook group. By combining real-time machine learning with multilingual human guidance, Visit Orlando aims to simplify the planning process for both domestic and international visitors.
