Pomroy began her journey in 1979 after earning a nursing degree from Texas Woman's University. Her early career at St. Paul Medical Center saw her transition from a technician to a manager, a progression she credits to the guidance of her mentor, Lorraine. This foundational period culminated in her receiving the Heart of St. Paul Award, setting a standard for the compassionate care she would later bring to Methodist Richardson Medical Center.
Since joining the psychiatric department at Methodist Richardson in 1997, Pomroy has specialized in electroconvulsive therapy. Beyond the clinical procedures, she emphasizes the necessity of patient and family education, particularly for those navigating depression and bipolar disorder. By fostering understanding, she helps patients manage their conditions and adhere to treatment plans. Her influence extends to her peers as well, as she currently leads groups on self-care and sleep hygiene while preparing colleagues for nursing certification exams.
