These components are essential for the facility's target output of 17,230 barrels of sustainable aviation fuel daily. The biorefinery plans to process a diverse range of feedstocks, from soybean oil and used cooking oil to the native Brazilian crop macaúba.
Alfa Laval Secures Record 1.1 BSEK Deal for Brazilian Biorefinery
Alfa Laval has inked a 1.1 billion SEK contract to supply pre-treatment technology for Acelen’s upcoming biorefinery in Brazil. This agreement, the largest in the Swedish engineering firm's history, marks a pivot toward large-scale renewable energy infrastructure as the facility prepares for a 2029 production launch.
Tom Erixon, President and CEO of Alfa Laval, described the deal as a testament to the rising demand for efficient biofuel technology in hard-to-abate sectors like aviation. The partnership leverages Brazil's long-standing energy policies, which have cultivated a robust environment for sustainable innovation. Once operational, the Acelen facility—part of a larger 30 BSEK investment by Mubadala Capital—is expected to significantly bolster regional energy security and diversify global sustainable fuel supplies.
