Philippe Kavafyan Joins Minesto Board to Drive Tidal Energy Expansion
With over three decades of international energy sector experience, Philippe Kavafyan has been elected to the board of Swedish marine energy developer Minesto. The appointment aims to leverage his extensive background in offshore wind and private equity to accelerate the company’s transition toward large-scale global deployment.

Reflecting on the appointment, Kavafyan pointed to the success of Minesto’s Faroe Islands deployment as a turning point for the company’s technology. He noted that integrating predictable tidal power with modern storage solutions offers a significant advantage for coastal grid management. Kavafyan’s career includes leadership roles at Aker and advisory positions at Boston Energy Ltd, alongside past board service for RenewableUK and WindEurope.
