Envision Energy and Elements Green Launch 1,600MWh German Battery Project

A 1,600MWh battery storage system is heading to northern Germany, as Envision Energy and independent power producer Elements Green move to secure the nation’s grid stability. Announced at Intersolar Europe, the Stadorf project ranks among the largest storage developments in the country, aiming to support Germany’s aggressive renewable energy transition.

The facility will utilize Envision’s Gen 8 BESS platform, a four-hour duration storage technology designed to tackle complex grid integration and regulatory hurdles. By deploying 400MW of capacity, the partners intend to provide the technical robustness required to manage the country's high integration of wind and solar power. The project emphasizes the necessity for long-life assets that remain reliable for decades under rigorous performance standards.

Henry Peng, senior vice president at Envision, highlighted that the collaboration bridges local market insights with global engineering capability. For Elements Green, the partnership serves as a strategic move to scale its European pipeline. CEO Rasmus Friis noted that as Germany deepens its reliance on intermittent renewables, storage serves as the essential component to ensure that power remains dispatchable and useful to the grid infrastructure.
