Netlist Secures Second ITC Investigation Into Samsung Memory Patents

The U.S. International Trade Commission has launched a new investigation into Samsung and several of its high-profile partners, including Google, Nvidia, and Broadcom. The probe, designated as 337-TA-1511, examines whether Samsung’s high-bandwidth memory and DDR5 products infringe on two specific patents held by California-based Netlist.

Netlist Secures Second ITC Investigation Into Samsung Memory Patents

Netlist filed the complaint on June 16, 2026, targeting Patent Nos. 12,646,537 and 12,650,937. The company is now pushing for exclusion and cease-and-desist orders that would effectively block the importation of the contested memory modules into the United States. C.K. Hong, Netlist’s chief executive officer, described the move as a critical step in defending the firm’s intellectual property against unauthorized use.

This marks the second active dispute between the two companies before the Commission. A separate investigation, initiated in September 2025, covers six additional patents involving similar memory technologies, with an evidentiary hearing currently slated for November 2026. The outcome of these proceedings could significantly impact the availability of specific Samsung hardware components within the American market, as the ITC weighs the validity of Netlist’s claims against the manufacturing giants involved.
