These items are then listed on a proprietary platform where bidding starts at $1 with no reserve price. According to company leadership, this model allows shoppers to secure discounts of up to 80% off standard retail pricing.
Kellen Campbell, co-founder and president of MAC.BID, noted that the expansion serves as a response to rising costs for families, framing the platform as a way to access needed goods without compromising household budgets. Beyond consumer savings, the firm addresses the logistical challenges retailers face when managing high volumes of returns. By offloading these goods, retailers avoid the labor-intensive process of sorting and re-routing inventory internally.
