The lawsuit, Yappi v. Wix.com Ltd., et al., filed in the Northern District of Illinois, claims the web development company misled shareholders regarding its AI initiatives, specifically the Base44 and Harmony platforms. While management publicly touted these tools as a vital response to the rise of AI-driven 'vibe coding,' the complaint alleges that Wix significantly understated development costs while overstating the platforms' commercial performance.
Financial strain became apparent when Wix reported a 46% year-over-year surge in operating expenses. The aggressive rollout of AI products drove non-GAAP sales and marketing costs to $190.7 million—an 88% increase—which caused the company’s operating margin to plummet from 21% to 5%. During the earnings call following the May 2026 disclosure, Wix leadership admitted that the Harmony platform suffered from technical gaps and failed to meet the needs of professional developers.
