Brad Kaufman Named Finalist for American Lawyer Best Mentor Award

The American Lawyer has named Greenberg Traurig senior chairman Brad Kaufman a finalist for its Best Mentor recognition. The award honors legal professionals who demonstrate an exceptional commitment to fostering the growth of younger colleagues, with the final winner set to be announced in New York City on November 12.

Kaufman serves as the firm’s global chairman of professional development and integration, a role that centers on guiding associates and spearheading career advancement initiatives. His influence within the firm is significant; many of the lawyers he has mentored have ascended to leadership positions both at Greenberg Traurig and across the broader legal industry. Tracy L. Gerber, managing shareholder of the firm’s West Palm Beach office, credits Kaufman’s personal approach with her own professional trajectory, noting a unique level of loyalty among his mentees.

Beyond his administrative duties, Kaufman maintains an active practice in securities litigation and regulatory defense, representing clients before the U.S. Supreme Court and various federal circuit courts. Following a 2023 multiple myeloma diagnosis, he redirected his focus toward global mentorship, visiting 18 firm offices to advocate for resilience and the importance of interpersonal connections. He views these efforts not merely as professional development, but as a reciprocal process where supporting others has become central to his own well-being and perspective on leadership.
