Lincoln Educational Faces Class Action Suit Over Student Start Metrics

A 24.9% single-day share price collapse has triggered a securities class action against Lincoln Educational Services Corp. The lawsuit, filed by Hagens Berman, alleges the company misled investors regarding student enrollment growth, contradicting optimistic performance projections issued by management just three months prior to the August 10, 2026, earnings report.

The legal challenge centers on the disparity between the company's public narrative and its actual performance. During a May 11, 2026, investor call, leadership touted a 19.5% growth in student starts, prompting a 10.6% share price increase. Management cited strong, sustained demand as the foundation for raising full-year growth guidance to between 10% and 14%. However, the subsequent second-quarter report revealed growth of only 1%, a sharp reversal that wiped out over $300 million in market capitalization.

Reed Kathrein, the Hagens Berman partner heading the investigation, is examining whether Lincoln Educational intentionally misrepresented these metrics to inflate investor confidence. The firm is now seeking lead plaintiffs among those who acquired securities during the May 11 to August 9 period. With a November 10, 2026, deadline for lead plaintiff applications, the investigation also invites whistleblowers with non-public information to come forward regarding the company's internal reporting practices.
