A YouGov survey commissioned by Visit Sweden highlights a shifting trend in global tourism: 67% of travelers now prioritize destinations where social engagement is optional, and nearly half admit needing a recovery period after their vacations. To meet this demand, the new agency provides resources for those seeking solitude and autonomy. Mattias Lundberg, a psychologist at Umeå University, notes that for many, recharging hinges on controlling the terms of their interactions rather than total isolation. Sweden’s cultural norms, which treat solitary coffee breaks as unremarkable and prioritize personal space, provide a natural backdrop for this approach.
Sweden Launches Travel Agency Tailored for Introverts
With 41% of travelers identifying as introverts and a majority craving relief from forced social interaction, Sweden is debuting The Introvert Travel Agency. The initiative aims to connect visitors with low-pressure environments, leveraging the country’s vast landscapes and cultural comfort with silence to offer a respite from conventional tourism.

Beyond digital booking services, the agency will host pop-up experiences in Berlin from October 14–17, Paris from October 21–24, and London from October 28–31. Susanne Andersson, CEO of Visit Sweden, emphasizes that the project is designed to highlight the freedom of choice inherent in Swedish culture, where social connection remains an invitation rather than an obligation. By utilizing the country’s public access rights and low population density, the agency encourages visitors to explore at their own pace.
