CityUHK Climbs to 70th Globally in THE World University Rankings 2027

The rankings, which assessed 2,297 institutions across 118 countries, highlighted CityUHK’s consistent performance across five core pillars. For the fourth consecutive year, the university secured a perfect score in the Industry pillar, cementing its status as a global leader in patent development and technology commercialization. Furthermore, CityUHK retained its top position in Hong Kong for International Outlook for the ninth year running.

Phil Baty, Chief Global Affairs Officer at THE, noted that the results reflect a broader shift in academic influence from West to East. He praised the university for its ability to attract global talent and foster deep-seated industry partnerships. Alongside these THE results, the university has now solidified its standing within the global top 100 across four major rankings, including a 52nd-place finish in the QS World University Rankings 2027 and a 47th-place ranking by U.S. News & World Report.

Acting President Professor Chun-Sing Lee credited the university's progress to a collective commitment to innovative research and academic excellence. Moving forward, the institution intends to leverage these metrics to further its role in developing Hong Kong as an international education hub while addressing complex global challenges through research-industry synergy.
