Under the new indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity agreement, Smart Shooter will serve as the sole provider of its rifle-mounted fire control technology. The systems utilize artificial intelligence and computer vision to track targets and synchronize shot release, allowing individual warfighters to engage small, fast-moving drones without sacrificing the weapon’s effectiveness against traditional ground threats. The hardware and software package also includes comprehensive training and ongoing support services.
Smart Shooter Lands $150 Million Pentagon Drone-Defense Contract
The U.S. Department of War’s Joint Interagency Task Force 401 has tapped Smart Shooter for a 36-month, single-award contract to supply SMASH fire control systems. With a ceiling of $150 million, the agreement aims to bolster the Domestic Shield Program by providing soldiers with advanced kinetic counter-drone capabilities.
This contract marks a significant expansion for the company within the U.S. defense sector, building on a previous award granted in March 2026. Brig. Gen. Matt Ross, director of JIATF-401, noted that the task force prioritizes the rapid delivery of specialized capabilities to protect installations and personnel. Thousands of SMASH units are already currently in use across the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps, and the systems are currently fielded by military forces in Israel, the UK, and Germany.
