The OmniHand 3 Ultra features 21 active degrees of freedom and a direct-drive architecture, utilizing vision-based tactile sensors in its fingertips to navigate the unpredictable behavior of silk. Managing such deformable material requires precise coordination, as the robot must maintain support while separating individual strands—a task that pushes the boundaries of standard industrial automation.
Qiao Tianjie, CEO of AGILINK, noted that the silk thread serves as a visible metric for the hand’s dexterity, signaling a move toward delegating fragile assembly tasks to machines. This technical milestone coincides with rapid commercial expansion for the firm. Spun out from AGIBOT in January 2026, the company has shipped over 15,000 units and secured unicorn status with a valuation exceeding US$1 billion following a June funding round.
