Duke Energy Awards $326,500 to Bolster Florida Workforce Initiatives
Duke Energy and its foundation have distributed $326,500 in grants to 27 organizations across Florida to accelerate economic development. The funding targets workforce training, business attraction, and infrastructure planning, aiming to ensure the state’s economy remains competitive as it absorbs a rapidly expanding population and industrial base.
Melissa Seixas, Duke Energy Florida state president, stated that these investments are essential for maintaining the state's global competitiveness. Local leaders, including Chelsea Morgan of the North Florida Economic Development Partnership, noted that such resources are vital for rural communities to leverage their unique assets while fostering growth. The initiative spans the state, with the Greater Tampa Bay area receiving $120,000, Central Florida securing $67,500, and various North Florida entities receiving a combined $104,000 to stimulate job creation and private investment.
