Deep, a 25-year veteran of the firm, assumes the top spot after overseeing various divisions, including combat systems and global operations. Novakovic, who took charge in 2013, leaves behind a company that generated $52.6 billion in revenue last year.
Danny Deep to Succeed Phebe Novakovic as General Dynamics CEO
After thirteen years at the helm of General Dynamics, Phebe Novakovic will step down as CEO on January 1, 2027, to transition into the role of executive chairman. The company’s board of directors has named current president Danny Deep as her successor, marking a shift in leadership for the defense giant.
Independent lead director Laura J. Schumacher credited Novakovic with building a capable leadership team and establishing a clear strategic vision during her long tenure. The transition ensures Novakovic remains involved in a senior capacity while Deep takes full control of day-to-day operations at the Reston-based aerospace and defense corporation.
