The College Navigator, developed alongside the KPMG Foundation through its AI Impact Initiative, serves as the debut feature of DC CAP’s broader Career Pathway Intelligence Platform. By centralizing data from over a dozen federal and local sources, the tool allows students to map out career paths based on regional wage data and projected job openings. Users can input specific interests or university preferences to generate a cohesive plan that calculates potential financial aid, including DC TAG and Pell Grants, against institutional costs.
DC CAP Launches AI-Driven Navigator for Student Career Planning
Navigating the gap between classroom interests and local job market demands just became simpler for District high schoolers. The DC College Access Program has released a new, AI-powered tool designed to bridge the distance between academic choices, financial aid packages, and future employment opportunities within the D.C. Metro area.

Accessibility remains a core component of the platform’s design. The tool operates without requiring user logins or personal data collection, functioning seamlessly on both mobile devices and desktop computers. This allows students to save their progress locally and share findings directly with counselors to facilitate more informed advising sessions. As registration for the upcoming DC CAP application cycle opens this October, the Navigator provides a resource for all District students to visualize the connection between their degrees and long-term economic mobility. Eric Waldo, President and CEO of DC CAP, emphasized that the platform is intended to give students a concrete view of their future options while working alongside the mentors guiding their academic journeys.
