Developed by Subaru Motorsports USA and Vermont SportsCar as a modern tribute to the 1978 Subaru BRAT, the Brataroo gained global notoriety as the centerpiece of Gymkhana: Aussie Shred. The vehicle is engineered with a turbocharged 2.0-liter SUBARU BOXER engine delivering 670 horsepower and 680 lb-ft of torque. It also features a sophisticated active aerodynamic system designed to stabilize the car during the high-flying jumps synonymous with Pastrana's driving style.
Travis Pastrana to Debut Subaru Brataroo at Goodwood Festival of Speed
The Goodwood Festival of Speed Hillclimb Shootout will host the UK debut of the Subaru Brataroo 9500 Turbo this July 9–12. Travis Pastrana, who has twice claimed second place at the prestigious event, aims to push the purpose-built machine to its limits on the storied 1.16-mile course.

Pastrana returns to the hill with a track record of podium finishes, having piloted the Subaru WRX STI Airslayer and the Subaru Family Huckster to second-place results in 2021 and 2023. While the team has consistently secured top honors in the internal combustion engine category, including strong showings from Scott Speed in recent years, the goal remains an overall Shootout victory. Pastrana notes that while competition remains fierce, he intends to balance competitive speed with the signature sideways style that has defined the Brataroo’s public appearances.
