The multi-phase research program centers on the practical application of e-Lung, an FDA-cleared and CE-marked platform that provides automated quantification of lung CT features. While the software already assists clinicians in assessing disease progression, this partnership aims to bridge the gap between technical metrics and patient comprehension. Investigators will survey how visual outputs impact a patient’s understanding of their condition and whether objective data encourages more productive discussions regarding treatment adjustments.
Brainomix and PFF Partner to Integrate Patient Voices into AI Lung Care
The Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation is collaborating with medtech firm Brainomix to determine how AI-driven CT scan analysis can better serve patients. By incorporating the Brainomix 360 e-Lung tool into clinical workflows, the initiative seeks to translate complex radiographic data into insights that facilitate shared treatment decisions between doctors and those living with fibrotic lung disease.

This effort operates under the umbrella of PROGRESS-PPF, an existing collaboration between Brainomix and Boehringer Ingelheim. By leveraging the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation’s Care Center Network, the project will gather feedback from caregivers and patients to ensure that technological development remains aligned with real-world clinical needs. Dr. Michalis Papadakis, CEO of Brainomix, emphasized that the goal is to move beyond mere imaging capabilities toward a model where diagnostic data actively informs communication and shared decision-making. Scott Staszak, President and CEO of the PFF, added that the Foundation’s involvement ensures that the lived experience of the community remains at the forefront of this digital innovation.
